Just at the Pitt Center

Posted November 9th by Tim Shipley in E-Wrestling News, JUST Wrestling

FAIRFIELD, CT – The hasty move to a wet Sunday to accommodate a music show double-booked at the Pitt Center for last night put a pre-emptive dampener on an unfortunate squib of a show. With Peyote Jones last week having won a shot at Aaron Nothings‘ Just Wrestling Championship, the fans expected a feisty main event, but Nothings’ GCW schedule did not allow for the contendership to be settled tonight and even Max Danger’s return in a theoretically mouthwatering clash with Jacob McKail failed to appease those who were here to see the man who has come to represent Just Wrestling.

The undercard was one-sided throughout. First of all Juicy was the surprise winner of a gauntlet comprised largely of new signings. Returnee Fathom and big-name Kenjiro Ito both failed to impress, while Cizin Camal and Daria Ngozi were equally hapless, and Juicy – who reportedly lacks any in-ring training whatsoever – walked out with his hand held high having only walked into the match as a late arrival having been held up in downtown traffic. We then looked to “The Flyin’ Hawaiian” Bryan Dawkins to put on more of a show, but apparently the PRIMEate had underestimated his opponent Steve Harrison – who put in a valiant GTT7 performance against the behemoth Hessian – and was given a lesson in the perils of complacency, Harrison finishing the surprisingly lacklustre Hawaiian with a finely delivered fisherman’s suplex.

DarkStar has returned to action after years out of the game to great fanfare, but after being eked out by “Outlaw” Jay Terror last week – no great shame, with Terror now having gone on to win the revered Dangerous Games match live on GCW pay-per-view – the former PCW icon was sloppy against another name returning to the circuit, John Lexicon. Lexicon picked up where he left off with an all-round accomplished game, and now at 27 years of age will look to stride to levels never previously ascended. A name who has jumped that queue is Peyote Jones, who came out of nowhere to last week win the Haunted House match; he took on an adversary from that match, Hush, and produced an emphatic showing going into his Championship match with Aaron Nothings next week, delivering the uninspiring Hush with signature move Endorphin.

We came all too soon to our main event, Max Danger and Jacob McKail both huge names in the wrestling world, but an average night of wrestling so far had perhaps dampened anticipation. Danger looked somewhat rusty on his return, too much time in the glitz of FWO blunting his skills and McKail – a GTT7 seed who fell to SCCW’s Lance Marshall in round one – took full advantage to net an inspiring victory over the former Just Wrestling Champion. The pair were evenly matched technically, but McKail had a clear edge with aerial offense, and Danger lacked the sharpness to change pace with his opponent, “The Maine Event” cruelly laid out by McKail’s unforgiving Fearless Freefall.

Next week we revert to a Saturday show, and Nothings’ second title defense of the tour will naturally headline. “Normal” John Johnson is on two wins and steps into the ring looking to secure his own JWC shot, but formidable opposition comes in the form of Max Danger. Meanwhile, Harrison and McKail come head to head, each having impressed on the tour thus far, and GCW’s once-again brightest star Jay Terror faces John Lexicon. Clark Fox, Juicy and Skylar Montgomery will be in action earlier in the night among others.
