-Angus Skaaland sells out?
As you may have noticed, Pro-Wrestling LARIAT, the small promotion out of Austin, TX that was pegged as the next big thing on the landscape, has been sitting in a state of remission for months as advertising contracts were being worked out that would allow the promotion to expand. However, as proceedings went stagnant weeks ago and alternate funding couldn’t be worked out, word has come down the pipeline that Angus Skaaland backed out of the proceedings and simply sold off the rights and assets of the company to the highest bidder.
Would it surprise you if said highest bidder remained anonymous?
Of course not, this is wrestling for Christ’s sakes.
When pressed, Angus would only say that what he’s doing is the best possible thing for the business. He refused further comments and has been sequestered ever since the sale was made public.
The news came as a surprise to most as many officials inside of the World Wrestling Alliance had been led to believe that LARIAT was a lock for the advertising money and were in line to become the Southern territory of the recently slumping Alliance. It’s even been whispered that Skaaland had the contract in his hands, but he simply never signed it.
It should be noted that officials from other defunct promotions such as Memphis Pro, Bayou Wrestling Alliance, Championship Wrestling from Florida, and Atlantic Coast Wrestling have also recently been approached with similar offers on their intellectual properties.
It isn’t currently known whether any of those other negotiations ever produced anything newsworthy, but rest assured if and when any information is made available for the public that the WWA Underground will be on the scene for all your coverage needs!
One thing is for sure, there’s a funny feeling in the air…
