Before the time keeper had time to get the bell rung the World Champion took a shot for a double-leg take-down. Cobra, displaying the reptilian reflexes that he’s named for, hopped straight up, twisted his body in mid-air, and dropped onto the Champ with an elbow drop to the middle of the back. Amethyst cursed as the air was driven from his lungs not two seconds into the match. Cobra quickly rolled The Champ over for a lateral press.
“One-”
Benny Doyle, the referee from the previous match, barely had time to slide under the bottom rope and into the ring between signaling for the bell to be rung and slapping his hand down to the mat once before Amethyst threw a shoulder up violently and rolled himself free of Cobra’s clutches.
No pun intended.
Jack scrambled to his feet and again the top two wrestlers in the World Wrestling Alliance stared one another down. Jack took the spare moment to point at a heckling fan in the front row and scream “Shut your cock-sucker!” The Defiance faithful in Atlanta would have none of it and erupted in negativity aimed solely at the World Champion.
The two grapplers circled each other for a moment before Jack feinted coming in from the left, but smacked Cobra hard with a right cross that sent him directly to the mat. Amethyst dropped an elbow of his own before making a cover of his own, cross-facing Cobra with his forearm for extra measure.
“One-”
Again Doyle’s hand only had time to slap the mat once before the cover was broken as Cobra exploded with his hips and displaced the pinning champion. Both men were quick to their feet and met in another standoff. The crowd applauded in appreciation, while still managing to fling taunts at the World Champion.
The wrestlers took another moment to circle each other, each looking for a weakness in the other man’s armor. Amethyst’s eyes were wild as he pressed in and the two locked up near the center of the ring. Jack used every bit of his near two hundred pounds to bull the larger challenger into a corner. Cobra was helpless as Jack lifted a quick knee into his midsection before raring back and blistering Cobra with another searing right hand. Benny Doyle admonished that champion only for Jack to answer him with a raised middle finger before sending a chaotic shoulder into Cobra’s already softened ribcage.
The champion took another pause to berate the front row Defiance fans before lifting his challenger up and to the top turnbuckle. Jack slapped Cobra hard across the face before climbing the turnbuckle himself, synching Cobra’s arm up, and lifting up and over with all of his might.
The crowd gasped as Cobra wiggled free and turned their momentum as they crashed toward the mat, sending the undefeated World Champion skidding across the canvas with a lucha inspired armdrag that Amethyst couldn’t have been expecting. Jack slapped the mat in frustration before lurching once again to his feet and charging in.
They tied up again at the collar and elbow, each jockeying to get the advantage. Cobra slipped around into a rear waste-lock, but the champ was quick with a go-behind. He’d fallen into Cobra’s trap though, as the challenger showed his ring awareness by immediately charging backward, sending Amethyst back first into the turnbuckle himself. Cobra snapped an arm back and smashed Jack hard in the face twice with hard elbows before quickly turning and driving his own shoulder into the gut of the champion, and twice more for good measure!
“KILL HIM!” The Only Star urged the Serpentalist on from outside the ring. “Tear out his dirty little spine and shove it up his ass!”
Cobra stepped up the ropes and hooked Jack’s head in a twisting head-scissors, but Jack was crafty, he rolled through and caught Cobra in pinning predicament that caught everyone but the referee off guard. Benny dove in to make the count again.
“One!”
“Two!”
Before the three could be called Cobra flipped himself backwards and out of the pinfall…
…“Finish it!” Eric Dane urged from ringside. Cobra was ready to oblige, he quickly scaled the turnbuckle and nodded to Dane below him, but that second of a hesitation was enough for Jack to get his brain unscrambled and be up behind him. He stunned the challenger with an upward diving headbutt before grabbing him by the neck, extending him, and dropping him to the mat with a rope-assisted Ace Crusher that silenced the crowd.
Jack drug Cobra to the center of the ring and covered him again, this time hooking the leg. Benny Doyle again sprung into the only action he was allowed to get.
“ONE!”
“TWO!”
“THR-NO!”
Doyle jabbed two fingers into the sky, signifying the escape. Jack was incensed! He berated Doyle again as he pulled Cobra to his feet by the mask one more time. Jack tried running Cobra into the turnbuckle face first, but the challenger blocked at the last second and instead sent Amethyst’s face into the padded steel of the turnbuckle. He rammed his face down again for good measure before turning and whipping Jack across the ring into the opposite corner.
The challenger roared as he exploded across the ring at the Champion, he leaped up for an Avalanche splash but Jack, bastard that he is, managed to pull Benny Doyle in front of him at the last possible second to absorb the brunt of the splash!
“BOOOOOOO!!!” The crowd did not approve.
Doyle crumpled uselessly to the mat, but Cobra didn’t let up the attack, he cracked Jack in the face with a stiff elbow to the jaw that put stars in the champion’s eyes for a moment. Cobra spun Jack around, grabbed him from behind and lifted him up onto the top turnbuckle backwards. He followed up with a couple of stiff forearm shots to the back before climbing up the ropes as well. He pulled Jack upward until both men’s feet were straddling the corner on the top ropes.
Cobra lurched backward but Jack had the wherewithal to send an elbow into Cobra’s face to stop him. Cobra responded with a headbutt before again pulling with all of his might on Jack’s waist. The Champion was bound and determined not to be suplexed backward off the top rope though and grabbed on with a death grip, refusing to let go! Cobra pulled and pulled, the crowd was in awe as the two men were perched on the top rope.
KEEEERAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!
The Defiance faithful gasped in unison, The Only Star had hopped up onto the apron and swung his black cane, splintering it right between the World Champion’s eyes! Jack’s grip loosened and Cobra heaved again, this time with all of his might, and lifted Amethyst up and over with a super deadlift German Suplex that brought both men crashing hard to the mat. It appeared that Jack had taken the worst end of the suplex, but Cobra was just about out of it with exhaustion himself.
Dane was going insane on the ring apron. “COVER HIM! COVER HIM!” he screamed at Cobra. The Serpentalist shook the cobwebs loose and reached over, draping an arm over the chest of the unconscious champion.
“…”
There was no count.
Benny Doyle was still out cold on the mat himself.
An evil grin found it’s way across Eric Dane’s face. He only hesitated for a split second before stepping between the ropes and diving down into position.
“One!”
He slapped the mat once.
“Two!”
Twice.
“THREE!”
A third time. The Atlanta crowd exploded.
The Defiance had declared War on the World Wrestling Alliance, and now they had taken the first critical shot. The entire place was at a fever pitch.
“Ladies and Gentlemen,” Darren Quimbey, the ring announcer screamed into his microphone. “Your winner, and NEEEEEEW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD! COBRA!”
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!
Winner via Avalanche German Suplex: Cobra

Jayson Burr

This:
Kintaru (Genesis Pro): was named the new Rising Star Champion at Ashes to Ashes by Jayson Burr after Giovanni Parker did not come down to the ring.
Is inaccurate. Kintaru said he didn’t want to win the title that way and Jayson Burr told him no worries there because he couldn’t win by count out. Kintaru was awarded the win but the Rising Star Championship was vacated. The new title holder will be determined this week at Genesis 31 in a battle royal.

Okay. For some reason it seemed a little unclear when I read it the first time. No biggee.
