World Champion:
Jack Amethyst [AW]
Except for the now-overturned loss to Cobra on the debut edition of Defiance TV, Jack Amethyst is undefeated in both regional and Alliance competition. He’s ran over everyone he’s faced, and even after taking a pair of vicious beatings from Eric Dane’s group of hired thugs he’s still scratched and clawed his way into the ring for competition. His broken arm has only slowed him down a half a step, so his reign of terror is likely to continue. He can and probably will hold the World Title for an entire year, it all depends on his continued urge to do so.
01. Cobra [DEF]
Cobra has been unstoppable in 2009 as well, winning that Crown of War match and thus becoming the Warlord after losing the World Title earlier in the year. He’s consistently been at the top of any card he’s appeared on, and his legion of Serpentalists have grown in hoards across the entire East Coast. His recent turning to the side of Eric Dane and Defiance, while disturbing, could actually give Cobra that last bit of “oomph” to get him over the top and into the role of dominant champion that he so richly deserves.
02. Ronnie Long [AW]
Ronnie Long made an immediate impact the minute he re-entered the World Wrestling Alliance. Undefeated and the current Atlantic Coast Champion, Long will ride this hot streak for many years to come. His most noteworthy victory was securing the Atlantic Coast Title in a 5 Man Gauntlet match back in November. Recently, he stood opposition to Stephen Greer and Cobra’s two on one attack and had many shining moments against these two dangerous men. Long will be a force to reckon with.
03. Aaron Vasquez [DEF]
Clap back, son! Chico Vasquez has bullied his way right back to the top of the wrestling world, currently holding the most points in the D1 Champions Carnival and leading the way toward the Defiance Heavyweight Crown! Shenanigans aside, Vasquez was one of 2008’s hot Alliance newcomers, and despite spending the majority of 2009 in the frigid tundra of Western Canada, Chico has returned to the Alliance without missing a beat.
04. Angel of Death [AW]
One of the most dedicated wrestlers on the roster has surely earned this spot. Currently the number one contender to the Atlantic Coast Championship, Angel of Death has had many impressive victories over the months in AW, including the victory over CRIP to gain this status. Black Widow, his manager, has very high hopes for AOD in 2010 and will push him to be his very best.
05. D.R. Kongo [DEF]
The Star Spangled Grappler with his trademarked toothy smile and strong kicks, D.R. Kongo has come out of nowhere (Gary, IN) to make his mark on Defiance and the Alliance in general! He’s second in points in the D1 Champions Carnival, and on the verge of being the Next Big Thing in the wrestling business.
06. Joe Drago [DEF]
The Reaper is indeed back. He has decided to take up arms against The Alliance, but that hasn’t stopped him from kicking heads in on Defiance TV at all! He’s already made claims on a World Title shot, and with his intensity and Murray Monroe’s mouth Drago could very well find himself challenging for the big belt sooner than later.
07. Jimmy Kort [DEF]
The Sheriff has made his way back to the Alliance with a vengeance, and he’s not making any fans with his controversial attitude and diatribes against minorities, homosexuals, and women! He is, however, making waves in Defiance and looking to establish himself as a top tier star in the new year. He’s also took it on himself to make former World Champion Justin Brooks his personal errand boy, and anybody who can humble Brooks can be in the hunt for the World Title.
08. Nick Rivers [AW]
This young athlete made his debut in December winning a battle royal, outlasting ten other competitors. With this victory he has an Atlantic Coast Title shot on the horizon. There is a world of possibility for Rivers, and he’ll continue this success in 2010.
09. Chris Cannon [AW]
Lately Chris Cannon has not been himself, but when this young star decides to turn it up again he will be one of the best in the World Wrestling Alliance. “The President of Cannonda” is one of the most confident men in the entire alliance and this will make him a shining star in the next couple of months.
10. Christopher Patterson [AW]
This true competitor has been one of the most dangerous men in AW from the beginning, and will continue to be in the new year. Patterson was inches away from gaining a shot at the Atlantic Coast Championship, and has shown his absolute determination over the past months.
World Tag Champions:
Team Danger [DEF]
Predictably, the World Champions followed Team Danger cohort Eric Dane to Defiance, where they’ve kept a stranglehold on the titles and made their mark on Jack Amethyst. However, Jack’s retaliation may just cost Team Danger the belts on account of Tyrone Walker is going to be out of action more likely than not for a series of oral surgeries to repair the damage done by the Champ’s thrown brick. On top of that, we’ve got four brand new regions coming into The Alliance in the new year, all chock full of hopeful future title opportunities.
01. Joe Drago/Leon Booth [DEF]
The odd pairing of Drago and Booth may be over before it’s even gotten started, but the two showed remarkable chemistry in their first match together. If they can get past their differences these two future Champions could take a shot at fellow Defiance members’ Team Danger sooner rather than later.
02. Chris Cannon/Leon Jenkins [AW]
These two wrestled together for the first time in December, securing a victory over the long time team of The Hunters. Although their out of ring chemistry might not be the best, these two professional gel very well together in the ring. Cannon utilizes his speed, while Leon Jenkins gets the job done with his brutality and strength. If Cannon and Jenkins continue this relationship they may very well see themselves as a legit force in the World tag scene.
03. Southern Hospitality [DEF]
Malik Johnson and Vince Webb Jr. have redoubled their efforts and defected to Defiance! They’ve also reignited their feud with former World Champions The Sex Symbols. Rumor has it, Johnson and Webb may also have some backup on the way to deal with the outside interference issues that have plagued the team on recent events.
04. The Hunters [AW]
These two had great success in WfWA: West but failed to defeat the odd team of Cannon and Jenkins. Although, they don’t seem to be on the same page as of late The Hunters could definitely make an impact in the future.
05. The Sex Symbols [DEF]
J.D. Hart and Sean Peters, the Stud-muffins of the WfWA, have come back to the Alliance from their sabbatical and joined the Defiance roster. Hart and Peters are always a danger in any tag division, and if they can get back to form they could take a shot at the titles; or, more likely, they’ll just hand out a lot of hotel room keys and enjoy the fruits of their looms.
